Footprints Advocacy is run by our Principal Consultant Kirralee Tapp, who has been supporting families of children with ASD for the past 5 years.
Kirralee began working within the NDIS space when the scheme was first rolling out and she attended the initial planning meeting for her adult brother who has Autism. This gave her firsthand experience of how confusing the NDIS funding process can be.
Since the introduction of the Early Childhood Early Intervention sector of the NDIS she has developed a high level of specialisation in helping parents achieve appropriate support plans for their children with Autism and CMT. This has come from 5 years’ experience in acting as a Parent Advocate within her family’s business, an Autism Specific Early Intervention centre.
Kirralee has worked with many families who are experiencing the emotional stress and challenges that come with parenting a child with ASD. She has seen the pressure that parents feel when they have to navigate the NDIS funding journey and the anxiety they feel when they know that what they say and do in a planning meeting can determine how much funding their child receives.
Kirralee has helped 100’s families Australia wide achieve appropriate NDIS plans for their child, many of them moving from a standard plan providing only 1-2 hours of therapy per week for 12 months, to an intensive plan that provides multiple hours of therapy each week.
With more and more families Australia wide requiring support, Kirralee has begun supporting children of all ages and adult participants with ASD and CMT.
Most recently, Kirralee has become a participant of the NDIS as she was born with Charot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) Disease. With her experience in supporting children and their families through the NDIS journey, she used this knowledge to successfully meet access and achieve an excellent NDIS plan.
Kirralee is incredibly passionate about helping families develop confidence to advocate for their child and achieve great outcomes.
